Description

This maple Plainsman-style hat embodies a softer, rounded frontier shape reminiscent of the hats worn across the Great Plains in the 1800s. With a broad brim and a smooth, domed crown, it balances strength and grace — a style often linked to both pioneers and early Western people of the plains.

Hand-turned from solid maple, the piece highlights the natural warmth and subtle grain variation of the wood. The gently darkened band around the crown is achieved through controlled heat and pressure, creating a burnished accent that gives depth and dimension without overpowering the natural tone.

Measuring 16.25 inches long, 14.5 inches wide, and 5 inches tall, with a 5” x 7.5” head cavity, this display piece mirrors the proportions of a real hat while serving purely as a work of art. Finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax blend, it radiates a soft, satin sheen — a tribute to traditional craftsmanship and Kentucky woodworking.
